I'm an engineer and engineering manager with particular experience in both server systems and multiplatform, distributed embedded systems. I am currently a lead developer at athenahealth in Watertown, MA. I previously ran nTAG Interactive's engineering department, encompassing the embedded and server software, quality assurance, hardware development, and manufacturing operations.
I received my bachelor's in computer science from MIT in June, 2002 and my Master of Engineering in computer science in June, 2003. During my M.Eng, I worked in the MIT Media Lab's Grassroots Invention Group. In addition to my thesis on a Tabletop Process Modeling Toolkit, I also worked extensively on the Tower system, traveling to Costa Rica and Mexico to help teach, support and inspire individuals using it to tackle local problems.

happy bert day!
Thursday (Aug 21st) was Bert Day -- the two-year anniversary of our dog Bert coming to live with us. Yup, it's possible we're a little obsessed. Bert also got to show off his new bowtie for the wedding!
There are also a bunch of new photos, including engagement photos! Only a few weeks to go...!

four wedding summer!
that's right, it was a four wedding summer. Guess I'm that age. It was also a summer of adorable small creatures. (That's amy's nephew Noah, who is giving bert a run for his money as cutest creature around!)

photos and nTAG move!
New photos online from my trip to arizona with doug and dad, including the Sedona area, the Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, the Painted Desert, the Petrified Forest, and a lot of 80mph driving on the open road. Also photos from Amy Katz's wedding (she's a friend of mine from MIT and the New Jersey Governor's School in the Sciences before our senior year in high school.) A bunch of MIT people were there, and my parents watched Bert while we were there. My parents were pretty tired after a day of running around with him outside, and he slept all of the next day.
Also, today nTAG moved into the Schrafft Center in Charlestown near the Sullivan Station orange line T stop which is, well, in the middle of nowhere.
Spam sucks, so you'll have to forgive the following obfuscation. (why?) I can be reached at tim at timgorton dot com. Other forms of communication are less reliable. Good luck.
